In un assolato e quieto pianoro a seicento metri sul livello del mare e a 6 chilometri da Assisi, si trova il Castello di Petrata, un' antica costruzione del 1300, con annessa una chiesetta del 1700.
Completamente ristrutturato ed elegantemente arredato è circondato da un contesto naturale di gran fascino, proprio della collina Umbra.
Il Castello dispone di 22 confortevoli camere, ognuna delle quali presenta caratteristiche diverse sia nell'arredamento che nell'organizzazione spaziale; sono presenti appartamenti suite con doppio bagno, Junior Suite e camere standard.
Da tutte le camere si può spalancare una finestra sulla campagna e sentire il fresco della rugiada o il cinguettio degli uccelli; nel contempo si può godere di uno straordinario panorama che spazia dalla Basilica di San Francesco alla Rocca Albornoziana, dal Parco del Monte Subasio alla vallata Umbra e a Perugia.
La Country House accoglie gli ospiti con il calore di una residenza privata, per un soggiorno di particolare armonia con la natura. Nel ristorante si possono gustare i piatti tipici dell'antica tradizione Umbra.

piscina, mountain bike e a pochi km di distanza un maneggio.

Un’iniziativa trasversale, rivolta a grandi e piccini, appassionati e curiosi, nell’incantevole cornice della città di Assisi, ricca di storia ed antiche tradizioni, che nel periodo pre-natalizio assume una veste unica. Un’opportunità per trascorrere un weekend diverso all’insegna della riscoperta di un oggetto che un tempo era indispensabile e che negli ultimi anni ha riscosso molto successo come complemento d'arredo.

A UNIQUE EVENT ... IS WORTH THE CANDLE!Lighting the interest for a never forgot object: the candle.This is the objective of “Cera una volta” (“Wax upon a time” 6th – 9th December 2007), the first and unique event in Italy, totally dedicated to candles, wax and all the elements of their world.A transverse kermesse, which will catch the interest of families and children, curios people and candle field insiders, in the charming Assisi Chistmas atmosphere, rich of history and ancient traditions.
That is an opportunity to spend a not usual weekend under banner of ri-discovering an object which in the past was indispensable and in the last years met with outstanding large success.The event, patronized by Assisi Town, by Italian Association of Candle Manufacturers, by European Association of Candle Manufacturers and by Calendimaggio Organization, has been invented and planned by SEDICIEVENTI, the communication agency developed in Eurochocolate background, the most famous italian kermesse dedicated to chocolate which is held in Perugia since 1993.Cera una volta has a simple and complete format: an expositive-selling area, with small and big candle factories selling their products; an educational-cultural area to discover more and more about wax world and a leisure-entertainment area, full of original and nice activities.In the The Light Show, the big candle market, there will be many italian and foreign firms focusing on handicraft production.
Many products will be sold: traditional candles, floating and perfumed ones, lighters candelabrums and candle holdres, and a special area reserved to votive candles, where meetings between votive candle retailers and ecclesiastical associations will be organized.In the educational – cultural area all the visitors can take part to many activities such as Cero anch’io (“I wax too”), laboratry for adult people, children and candle field insiders te learn how to create an handicraft candle; Disegna una bugia (“Draw your candle holder”), a young designer national competition to draw new and innnovative candle holders and Candele in mostra (“Candle Exhibition”), where the most beautiful handicraft candles will find their space like works of art.But the show is not finished yet: other appointments will be dedicated to Cera d’api (“Beeswax”); to Cera lacca (“Sealing wax”); seminars and conferences about candle history in different countries and about candle liturgy. Moreover, to make the atmosphere more charming in all the Assisi Restaurants dinners will be served rigorously by candlelight!And also Che fretta Cera (“Relax Wax”) will involve relax and meditation techniques with candles and Cera una Volta Fairy Tale will leads children through a narrative trip in the most beautiful Assisi streets where actors will play nice tales.In the leisure – entertainment area children will play Il Gioco vale la candela (“The game IS worth the candle”) and will blow out the little candles during Buon Compleanno! (“Happy Birthday!”) where a cake will be presented to people whose birthdays happen during the event.
Besides, Assisi and candle manufacturers will try to win the Guinness World Record for the biggest candle: The Guinness Candle!So, the event programme is thick and full of activities, which surely will light the visitors' interest till the most magic and exciting moment: the total Assisi switching off eletric lights to light the whole village only by candlelight in a romantic and evocative atmosphere which only candles are able to create.
